How To Paint Your Kitchen Cabinets: Abbreviated

Kitchen paint feature

You’re busy and want to figure out how to paint your kitchen cabinets without the fluff.  Here you go. You’re welcome.

Stuff You’ll Need
  1. Foam roller
  2. Paint brush
  3. Paint – (I use Behr Marquee Interior – Satin or Semi gloss)
  4. Primer? Some people use primer, I don’t.
  5. Paint Tray
  6. Painters Tape
  7. 220 grit Sand Paper
  8. Plastic covers for your counters/floors if you’re a hot mess

What To do
  1. REMOVE knobs and pulls from doors.
  2. REMOVE the doors and remove all their hinges.
  3. CLEAN everything with a sponge and some dish soap/water.  Let it dry.
  4. LIGHTLY SAND the doors and cabinet boxes with 220 grit paper. You don’t need to strip it, just scuff it up for the paint to adhere to.
  5. CLEAN off sanding dust with tack cloth or moist paper towel.
  6. TAPE off the edges of your cabinet boxes and lay plastic over your counters and floors.
  7. Start by PAINTING the edges and crevices of the doors with your paint brush.
  8. ROLL over everything with your paint roller.
  9. PAINT the boxes as well using the same technique.  If you want to paint the insides too…good luck.
  10. You’ll probably need 2 – 3 COATS depend on the color of your cabinets and color of paint.  Let the paint dry out for a couple of hours before the next coat.
  11. After final coat, let the paint cure for at least 24 HRS before reattaching everything.
  12. YAY! You’re done!
