How To Paint Your Kitchen Cabinets: Abbreviated
You’re busy and want to figure out how to paint your kitchen cabinets without the fluff. Here you go. You’re welcome.
Stuff You’ll Need
- Foam roller
- Paint brush
- Paint – (I use Behr Marquee Interior – Satin or Semi gloss)
- Primer? Some people use primer, I don’t.
- Paint Tray
- Painters Tape
- 220 grit Sand Paper
- Plastic covers for your counters/floors if you’re a hot mess
What To do
- REMOVE knobs and pulls from doors.
- REMOVE the doors and remove all their hinges.
- CLEAN everything with a sponge and some dish soap/water. Let it dry.
- LIGHTLY SAND the doors and cabinet boxes with 220 grit paper. You don’t need to strip it, just scuff it up for the paint to adhere to.
- CLEAN off sanding dust with tack cloth or moist paper towel.
- TAPE off the edges of your cabinet boxes and lay plastic over your counters and floors.
- Start by PAINTING the edges and crevices of the doors with your paint brush.
- ROLL over everything with your paint roller.
- PAINT the boxes as well using the same technique. If you want to paint the insides too…good luck.
- You’ll probably need 2 – 3 COATS depend on the color of your cabinets and color of paint. Let the paint dry out for a couple of hours before the next coat.
- After final coat, let the paint cure for at least 24 HRS before reattaching everything.
- YAY! You’re done!
